【用法一】 v. 堅決要求;堅持要;一定要
例1：we insisted on his apology.
我們要他賠禮道歉。
例2： she insisted on seeing us home.
她堅持要送我們回家。
例3： i insisted on their arriving there ahead of time.
我堅持要他們提前趕到那。
注：1)insist on 后面不能接由“名詞或代詞 + 動詞不定式”構成的復合賓語。不能說：the teacher insisted on all the compositions to be handed in on monday.
2)insist +賓語從句(從句中的謂語動詞常用虛擬語氣，即should + 動詞原形或
省去should)。例如： the young men insisted that they (should) be sent to the front.
那些年輕人堅持要求被派往前線去。
【用法二】v. 堅持認為，堅持說，強調
1) insist on +名詞。
例如： he insisted on his innocence.
他堅持說自己無罪。
2)insist on + 賓語從句在表示一個客觀事實時(謂語動詞不用虛擬語氣，而應用陳述語氣)。
例如： the boy insisted that he hadn’t broken the glass.
那小男孩堅持說他沒有打爛玻璃杯。
