◆another pron. & adj.
1. another 由 an＋ other 構成，但總是寫成一個詞，不能寫成an other；其后一般只接單數可數名詞，不接復數名詞或不可數名詞。如：
正: another boy (day) 另外一個男孩(一天)
誤: another boys (days, news, advice)
2. 在通常情況下，another 后不能接復數名詞或不可數名詞，但是若復數名詞之前有 few 或數詞修飾，或不可數名詞之前有 piece of 之類的單位詞時等，則可以與 another 連用。如：
In another two weeks it’ll be finished. 再過兩個星期就可做完了。
I have another good piece of news for you. 我還有一條好消息要告訴你。
3. another 表示“另外一個”，通常是泛指(而非特指)另外一個或指不確定數目的另外一個。如：
Give me another (one). 另外給我一個。
He finished his cake and asked for another (one). 他吃光了他那塊蛋糕后又要了一塊。
注：若是特指兩者中的另一個，則用 the other。如：
Shut the other eye, please. 請把另一只眼睛也閉上。
◆answer v. & n.
1. 用作動詞，除表示“回答”、“答復”外，還可表示“接 (電話)”或對門鈴等聲響作出反應等(常與 telephone, door, bell, door-bell 等連用)。如：
Who answered the telephone? 誰接的電話?
A little girl answered the door. 一個小女孩應聲去開門。
Nobody answered my call for help. 沒有人理會我的呼救。
2. 用作名詞，表示“回答”、“答復”、“答案”等，注意以下各例中 answer 后接的介詞是 to 而不是 of：
What was the answer to question 4? 問題四是怎么答的?
Have you had an answer to your letter? 你的信有回音沒有?
用于短語 in answer to(作為回應)。如：
He came at once in answer to my phone call. 他一接到我的電話就來了。
